What makes a HackerMRR story?
HackerMRR is about real builder journeys, not polished startup success stories.
We want to know what actually happened - the good, the bad, the numbers, the mistakes and everything in between.
Please be specific
When possible, include:
- Real dates or at least months
- Revenue / MRR numbers
- Number of customers
- Pricing
- How much you spent
- How long it took to launch
- How you got your first customers
- What acquisition channels you tried
- What worked
- What didn't work
- Major mistakes or failures
- Pivots and important decisions
You don't need to share every number down to the exact cent. Approximate numbers are completely fine.

“We started making good money after a while.”
We'd rather have an honest $300 MRR and a great story than an exaggerated success story.
No hustle-bro stories
You don't need to make yourself look successful.
If you failed, pivoted, got stuck at $500 MRR, wasted 6 months building the wrong thing, or eventually shut the product down - that's a story too.
The goal is to document what actually happened, not create another “10 lessons from my $100k startup” post.

We'll send the story to you by email so you can read it through.

Request changes
You have another 24 hours to request changes or tell us you don't want it published.

We publish
If we don't hear back within those 24 hours, we'll consider the story approved and publish it on HackerMRR.
We'll keep your original voice and won't invent or exaggerate anything. We'll mainly edit, structure and clean up your answers so the story is easy to read.
The goal is simple: real builders, real numbers, real stories.
